Energetic view of man

The archetypal level

The third subjective level is the archetypal in which structures from the collective unconscious appear, more or less distinctly. As pointed out in the section on the unconscious, such dreams are usually highly symbolic and are sometimes referred to as "big dreams". They are so striking that they are usually remembered for years following their appearance and can be decisive in the direction of life that the dreamer embarks upon.

It is in the archetypal level that is the basis for our decisions as to what is good and bad, what is right and wrong, what we like and don't like, what makes us happy and sad, what we consider fair and unfair, what we think beautiful and not so beautiful. Without our archetypal layer we'd have no orientation in life.
